Kind Heart and Iron Fist at Turner Ashby High School 2024
Director and Playwright
This was a children's theatre piece that ran about 20 minutes. I had about 10 rehearsals to put the show on. The play was about two rival kingdoms going to war with one another. The kingdom of Rosewood who sends their weakest warrior and the Kingdom of Torvus who sends their strongest in search of a weapon to destroy the opponent. They fight a sea witch, and make friends with islanders, then ultimately, they realize that true resolution lies not only in power but in the balance of strength and compassion, suggesting that both kingdoms can coexist under wise leadership.

Kind Heart and Iron Fist at Turner Ashby High School 2024
Costume Desgin
For this production, there was no budget so we had to be resourceful. I drew renders and then adjusted the design based on the resources around us. I used red and blues for the Kingdom of Torvus to show the power they had over the Kingdom of Rosewood that was more muted green and pinks. The two main characters were wearing opposite colors (red and green), to show there opposite views on life. Yet they still work good together, highlighting the moral of the story. I also kept the costumes very exciting for the children.

Trap at Turner Ashby High School 2023
Sound Design
Trap is a horror play, and in my designs I wanted to use the sound to create a feeling of dread and anxiety. I would slowly introduce the music and raise the volume so there was no sudden change and everything felt natural. I also played white noise throughout the show, so any moments without music, sound effects, or dialogue was a false sense of silence. Since this was a constant sound, the audience mind filters out unwanted background noise, therefore right before the critical moment at the end of the play when the cast was "attacking" the audience I turned it off, have a true sense of silence. This made the audience have a wave of fear on what was happening next.

Mid Summer Nights Dream at Blue Ridge Community College 2023
Assistant Director
Through this process, I supported the director by helping bring their creative vision to life through organizing rehearsals, providing feedback to the cast, and managing logistical tasks like paperwork and scheduling. In addition to giving creative input, I assisted with guiding and mentoring the young actors in a youth theatre setting, ensuring they were prepared, confident, and safe throughout the production process. This includes coaching and educating them on Shakespeare and his text.

Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane At Turner Ashby High School 2022
Dramaturgy
This play, was previously a children's book by Kate DiCamillo. This story took on 4 different time periods and about 7 different locations around the world. I accurately put together a dramaturgy booklet filled with the historical information, details from the book as well the personal connections each character holds with one another and there growth.
